Had a ticket, but after the Everton match couldn't be bothered to put myself through another episode of frustration. Despite the score I felt vindicated after the first half too, as I could only see one winner at full time.

2nd half was much better. I'm pleased with the result but the rub of the green was certainly with us with the OG and Bowens deflected effort. The Bowen / Kudus experiment seemed to work really well, so I fully expect Antonio back up top against Brentford on Saturday.

It was Interesting watching Rice at full time. Hugs and chat for all except Bowen. The pair of them barely even looked at each other. Rice seemed to go to say something but Bowen pretty much blanked him and carried on walking.

The biggest difference for me was having players that were defending from the front.

It made a stark difference from seeing Antonio stroll around not pressuring any opposition players.

Cam we just take a moment to appreciate how good kudus's control was for his goal.

Didn't realise he controlled on the back heel till I got home and watched the highlights.

had to laugh at that creepy fat arsehole, the moose, crying about the so-called bad treatment towards rice. I saw plenty applauding him, remember this twat was used by gold to slag off fans in the past

A great night. Fancied us.

Won so many tackles, pressed well and gave them no where to go. Ramsdale just standing on the ball for a minute when 1-0 down was funny.

Ref was terrible again though. Always get bad ones. Asking Bowen to stand outside the box for a free kick in the box was a new one.

If that's the best we have played then it shows how poor we have been. The players worked really hard but that's the minimum you should expect. A couple of decent finishes but overall a usual defensive and rigid setup against an Arsenal second string. Let's not kid ourselves that we were amazing. Barely in Arsenals half most of the game.
Playing this system probably has a 1 in 4 success rate depending on how poor your opponents finishing is and how good yours is.

Someone or in fact the whole team seemed to have had a rocket up their collective arses, one of the best performances all season. Of course we're not going to outpass a team like Arsenal but what we did do is harry them like a Henry V Chevauchée through their ranks and it unsettled them. Special kudos for erm Kudus and Bowen who were superb.

Arsenal came to play and attack us which gives you more room and spaces to get in and behind their defence.

Everton play like us very deep, narrow and “keep the shape” and throw their bodies on the line to block everything. Like attacking a “brick wall” and without wing backs to create overloads down the sides and without pace and movement it’s so hard to break down for a Moyes team.

Brentford pass it better than us and have progressed in the way they play to play thru the press etc.. but still get numbers behind tge ball. Without Alvarez and Paqueta I see us struggling to keep them out and to create much. Moyesball definitely does better against teams that play a “front foot” / expansive game

Interesting chim because I thought we were dreadful first half. Couldnt string 2 passes together, repeatedly conceded possession in dangerous areas amd didn't have a single shot. Much improved second half and looked a threat, whereas they looked mpre clueless as the game went on

Easily the best we've played all season.

We looked full of energy and pressed the ball beautifully, never really giving Arsenal a chance to get their game going, despite some terrible refereeing.

The team looked SO fit with Emerson and Coufal running the channels, Kudas, Benni and especially the brilliant Bowen seeming like their lives depended on winning that game and Pac man allowed free rein to play wherever he liked to produce a bit of magic.

It was glorious to watch. Slightly disappointed that they scored after keeping them out for 100 minutes when the game lasted 101 but from front to back we were superb. Surely Mavrapanos has done enough now to become a regular?

I came away buzzing, especially as there were not enough Arsenal fans left at the end of the game to even hear them celebrate a last minute goal after them singing 'we're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen' all through the first half.

Me and most of the people around me gave Declan a polite round of applause when he warmed up and came on and I thought the boos when he (hardly) touched the ball was a bit out of order but I also joined in a raucous 'GONE TO A BIG CLUB, YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO A BIG CLUB' but by then of course half their supporters were gone.

I don't really give a fuck about the draw, if we go out now nobody can say that we didn't give the league cup a good go and last night's performance has hopefully stopped the slump in our campaign because we all know it's all about building confidence.

We're starting to build a very decent side and maybe can start to slew away the plucky underdog moniker we've always had? We played last night like a team that deserves to play in a 65,000 seater stadium which lets face it, doesn't happen very often.

The fact he'd rather push Pacqueta out wide and bring on Ward-Prowse when hooking Benrahma than give Cornet a run out proves the latter is a dead man walking. Would've been nice to see him get an opportunity at 3-0 with 10 minutes to go as opposed to when a game is already lost and we're running up blind alleys

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread - Preview
As long as he plays with some balance on that side rather than Paqueta out of position I don't care. Weirdly Moyes praised him after the game, not heard him do that before.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread - Preview
Not against Benrahma getting another chance, and it may be a good idea to play him at his old stomping ground on Saturday, but ultimately I think we've seen enough now to know that he's not up to it to be a regular in the side.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread - Preview
It was classic Moyes West Ham compared to Everton one game not suited to his tactics another that was and like earlier in the season took our chances aided by a bit of luck. Soucek I didn't really notice which is good because there wasn't the stray passes and again tactics that suited him which is fine, horses for courses.

I loved Bowen down the middle with Benrahma and Kudus either side, more balance when going forward and Kudus looks very good.

Absolute cunt of a draw though.

bib - The two big games either side gives us a little hope, but I think it's clutching. Don't think they have lost at home well over a year, and then there is our dire record there. I think we're gonners unfortunately. An awful fucking draw.

That's Kudus as a starter now moving forward, was only a matter of time anyway, and fancy Antonio is going to be spending a lot of time on the bench too.

A good win no doubt, but not sure how much you can take from league cup games, let's see at Brentford.

Would really like to see us play with actual ballers in the front positions in the league ( Benny, Bowen, kudus and paqueta).

I feel like if we can get these 4 to click and rotate positions I don’t think we will need Antonio or Ings.

I’m also wondering whether it’s JWP that has to alternate with Soucek because both posters are sort of questionable in terms of their use in open play. (Soucek edging it at the mo).

Finally, I’d like to see Kherer at right back again. I think that’s where he played for Germany and I think he did really well end of last season. I would just like someone a little better on the ball going forward than soucek to really pin back the opposing left back.
It’s weird also the Johnson was doing well at the position but got injured and hasnt really been at it.

I understand Coufal has the most assists so maybe I’m unfairly attacking him but just feels like he hasn’t got any flair. Maybe we don’t need that m, I dunno…

But yeah, more players that can beat a man for me.

we need to build around bowen , kudus and paqueta its so rare to have a player who does the running , the hard work and has the ability on the ball , we have three!!!
